When the challenge is distance rather than speed, this jacket combines warmth and comfort with styling that looks good both on the bike and at the « coffee stop ». Long adventure rides are increasingly being undertaken. Sometimes this involves climbing high altitudes or riding through the cold of the night and the heat of the day. Then it’s multi-day bikepacking trips. This jacket shines in those situations because it provides plenty of insulation and warmth when you need it, but it packs down small in your saddlebag when it’s not needed. The outer layer is made from a material already familiar from some high-end down jackets from big brands. Castelli uses it because it’s so lightweight and still keeps the wind out. The inside is made of Polartec® Alpha® Direct, the lightest, smallest stowable and most absorbent insulation on the market. It warms like a synthetic down, but doesn’t require an inner layer that would limit breathability and add weight.
