The Crafty Carbon is the most balanced model with the best overall performance in Mondraker’s range of e-Mountainbikes. The carbon frame is a completely new development and shows all the expertise Mondraker has in frame building. Unmatched aesthetics have been combined with advanced geometry and maximum stiffness. The handcrafted, stylish Stealth Air Carbon frame set is the lightest in the world of E-Enduros. Mondrakers Forward Geometry was specially designed for 29ers and gives the Crafty Carbon an unparalleled agility. The chassis is the only one with a Zero Suspension System optimized for e-bikes and provides optimal control and comfort. In addition, it comes with the innovative MIND system. This is an integrated telemetry system for correct suspension adjustment, which together with the multifunctional app myMondraker revolutionizes the mountain bike experience.

The proven SRAM 1×12-speed drivetrain offers enough bandwidth for hard climbs. The Fox Racing suspension with 160 mm / 150 mm suspension travel offers superior comfort, whereby the Fox 36 Float Grip2 Factory Kashima suspension fork in combination with the Fox Float DPS Factory Kashima provides particularly good responsiveness. The stable 29″ Mavic wheels come of course in Boost standard and are tubeless ready. On crisp descents, the E-MTB is reliably decelerated by SRAM’s 4-piston brake system. The brake discs with a diameter of 200 mm at front and rear offer sufficient reserves to safely descend from the highest peak. The wide Maxxis tyres ensure reliable grip.

MIND
Mondraker’s latest Mountain Bike innovation is the MIND device, much more than just a suspension set-up tool it will transform the way we ride our bikes from now on. 2021 was the year that Mondraker premieres a GPS enabled telemetry system fully integrated with the bike’s suspension and which connects to a new smartphone app offering multiple functions and a wealth of data never before seen on a production mountain bike. MIND collects data from our rides and sends it, together with suspension activity data, to the myMondraker app for analysis. Likewise, the app lets us connect directly with the “Mondraker Universe” making each ride absolutely unbeatable.

This telemetry system offers invaluable information about how the suspension is working and the route you pedal along on your ride: from how to adjust the “sag” to really take advantage of your bike, to real performance data (detailed information regarding the timings of your ride, total distance, average speed, elevation gain etc.) together with other parameters such as how far you jumped and how much “air time” you got, max suspension travel both front and rear as well as whether you bottomed out or not at any point on the ride. No more having to set your bike up by guesswork! From now on with MIND you can set your bike up easily and optimally however hard you send it and whatever your riding style or overall level as a rider. MIND connects to the myMondraker app by Bluetooth for data transfer, both to record each ride and for settings. Thanks to myMondraker you can check to see if you went faster or slower through that complicated section of your favourite trail, or if you bottomed out on the landing of some jump, with quick links to the most popular social networks like Strava where you share your activities.

The sensor sends information to a master unit which is hidden inside the headtube. This master unit has several roles. It doubles as the front sensor which “reads” the magnetic field of a magnet which is fixed to the back of the top of the left fork leg. The sensor measures fork travel relative to the sensor 100 times per second on the move, and up to 5000 times a second while measuring sag.The master unit is also the Bluetooth transmitter which sends the data collected from all the sensors to the myMondraker app installed on your smartphone once your ride is over.

This master unit also receives the data sent from the rear MIND sensor which is fixed to the linkage of the Zero suspension system and which in turn measures the magnetic field of a magnet which is on the main pivot point of the rear triangle.

Last but not least the master unit also contains an integrated GPS system which has its own GSM 2G/4G connectivity independent of your phone.Each mind unit contains its own rechargeable battery which is good for more than 20 hours continuous run time and more than 15 days on standby. To fully recharge the system you only need connect each device to a charger with a USB C connection. A blue light flashes continuously if the system is charging. The whole system including both sensors, batteries, magnets and antenna weighs in at only 199 grams, is completely maintenance free and is incorporated into the bike so subtly that it’s almost unnoticeable. MIND connects automatically to the myMondraker app (which you can download for free for both Android and iOS) via Bluetooth thus synching all the data relative to your ride, including how your suspension worked from the beginning to the end.

All of them with the most exclusive construction, the selection of high modulus carbon fibers and the most careful lay-up molding process that make Crafty Carbon the most complete, most special and exclusive e-MTB at the moment.

FORWARD GEOMETRY
For 2020 Mondraker have made the leap to 29” for Crafty models and have refined – even furthermore – their exclusive Forward geometries throughout the collection. Crafty Carbon benefits from Mondraker‘s 8 seasons of Forward Geometry expertise and specially, being an e-MTB model, features the best overall geometry they have ever designed for an e-MTB to date: a steep 76° seat tube angle which ensures an ideal riding position for pedalling steep inclines, an optimized chainstay length of 455 mm perfectly balanced to offer maximum traction uphill and playful handling going down, with its characteristic and distinctive long Reach and Front Center Mondraker bicycles are known of, as well as a 65.5° headtube angle combined with 160 mm travel FOX forks with short offsets.

Short 44 mm fork offsets have their greatest and superior benefits in combination with the genuine and distinctive Forward Geometry concept and its super-responsive direct steering combined with the proprietary FG30 mm stem and long Reach. Short offsets imply longer ”Trail” measurement, improving riding stability and translating into a more playful ride, greater confidence and added grip of the front tire in the corners as a bonus and a more enjoyable and faster ride overall.

E-BIKE OPTIMIZED ZERO KINEMATICS
Zero is Mondraker’s proprietary and flagship virtual pivot rear suspension system engineered by two links that compress and control the shock movement from both ends featured on all Mondraker full suspension models. Crafty Carbon – as well as the entire e-MTB Mondraker range on this 2020 season – introduces new redesigned kinematics, specifically designed according to the needs and rigors of an e-MTB.

The three Crafty Carbon RR SL, RR and R models feature FOX DPS metric Trunnion shocks, with internal « custom » configuration and exclusive settings specifically developed for this e-MTB Zero suspension system kinematic optimization and its 150 mm rear wheel rear travel.

COOLING AIR FLOW SYSTEM
Crafty Carbon features an innovative cooling system that allows channelled air flow through the inside of the main tube. This air circulation has its origin in its integrated cooling gills near the head tube, allowing the air flow through the internal structure in order to help dissipate the heat generated by the Bosch battery in order to improve its performance. Air is expelled through an exit port at the opposite end of the battery, just above the bottom of the main tube.

HIDDEN HOUSING GUIDE
Crafty Carbon benefits from Mondraker‘s HHG technology with internal guide for the derailleur cable, rear brake, as well as the internal dropper post both on Crafty Carbon R and Crafty Carbon RR models. Special mention should be made for the new Acros ICR (Integrated Cable Routing) headset – developed together for the new Crafty Carbon. This new system allows the insertion and internal routing of all these cables mentioned from the top of the headset, keeping the aesthetics cleaner and tidier.
